Bionic Commando Rearmed is an action side view game developed by GRIN using the Diesel engine and published by Capcom. The game features both a singleplayer campaign and a local multiplayer mode and it is a remake of the 1988 NES version of Bionic Commando.

The player controls Nathan "Rad" Spencer and his main characteristic is the ability of using his Bionic Arm, which allow him to swing between platforms paired with an action gameplay featuring multiple firing weapons and type of enemies on a level based structure. Just like the original game, the major peculiarity is the lack of a jump button, which enhance the utilization of the grappling hook mechanic.

The PC version was released on August 14, 2008 and it is part of the Bionic Commando series that has started with the homonymous NES title in the 1988.

The PC version specifically have issues with certain drivers and/or type of CPU, look at issues fixed for possible solutions.

Issues unresolved

The hacking mini game is bugged and unplayable in 4K resolution

Any resolution lower than 4K is working fine.[4]

Issues fixed

Run the game at screen refresh rate

Refresh rate defaults to 60 Hz on startup, even if it's been changed on the previous launch.
Set screen refresh rate via renderer_settings.xml
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\data\settings\.
  2. Open renderer_settings.xml.
  3. Change the value of refresh_rate="60" to the preferred refresh rate (e.g. refresh_rate="120" for a 120 Hz resolution).
  4. Save the file and close it.
  5. Right click on renderer_settings.xml, select Properties, check the Read-only box and press OK.

Notes

This will prevent future modification of general graphic settings via the in-game options.
Set screen refresh rate via Special K
  1. Install Special K for the game, either globally or locally (DirectX 9).
  2. Force a custom refresh rate.

Game does not start (Windows 10)

If the game crashes with a PhysX error message.
Update PhysX[5]
If the game starts and closes with no error message.
Replace the original executable with a modified one that only utilize 4 CPU cores[7]
  1. Download the modified bcr.exe from here
  2. Navigate to <path-to-game>
  3. Replace the original bcr.exe with the downloaded one.
